ஜப்பானில் உயர்க் கல்வி

MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan) offers scholarships to international students who wish to study in Japan at a specialised training college (three years), a college of technology (four years) and a university (undergraduate level, five years).

For eligibility, candidates must have been born between April 1994 -1999 and completed twelve years of school education. They will be requested to sit for an examination at the premises of the Consulate-General of Japan at Chennai.

Japanese language skill is not compulsory for this examination, but candidates must be willing to undergo a one-year intensive training in the language if selected.

The prescribed application form and the outline of the scholarship can be obtained from the Consulate-General of Japan (Culture & Information Department) at 12/1, Cenotaph Road, Teynampet.

The application document has to be submitted no later than June 17, 2015.

Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding or Ship Technology deals with the study of the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of marine vehicles such as ships and submarines. Those who desire to become a naval architect or a ship technologist can opt for B.Tech./BE courses in Naval Architecture & Shipbuilding or Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.

Study facilities

In Kerala, the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) offers a four-year regular B.Tech. course in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding. Admission is through the Cusat Common Admission Test and interview. Those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with at least 60 per cent marks in aggregate for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 50 per cent for Mathematics are eligible for admission. The Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of Engineering, Kolencherry, (private self-financing), offers B.Tech. Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding. There are 60 seats. Admission to 50 per cent merit seats is through Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination.

Indian Maritime University (IMU) under the Union government, Chennai, offers a B.Tech. course in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at the National Ship Design and Research Centre (university campus) in Visakhapatnam. There are 40 seats.
