குவளைப் பைஞ்சுனை பருகி அயல
தகரத் தண்ணிழல் பிணையொடு வதியும்
வடதிசை அதுவே வான்தோய் இமயம்
தென்திசை ஆஅய்குடி இன்றாயின்
பிறழ்வது மன்னோஇம் மலர்தலை உலகே


பொருளுரை:

ஆய் அண்டிரனை முன்னமேயே நினைக்காமல் காலந்தாழ்த்திப் பின்னர் நினைத்தேனே! 
என் உள்ளம் வருத்தத்தில் மூழ்கட்டும்; என் நாக்கு அழியட்டும்; 

பாழ் அடைந்த ஊரில் உள்ள கிணறுபோல் என் செவிகள் அடைபட்டுப் போகட்டும். 
நாரத்தம் பழங்களையும் மணமுடைய புல்லையும் தின்ற கவரிமா, 
குவளை மலர்களுடன் கூடிய பசுமையான நீர்நிலையில் உள்ள நீரைக் குடித்துவிட்டு 
அதனை அடுத்துள்ள தகர மரத்தின் குளிர்ந்த நிழலில் தன் பெண்ணினத் துணையோடு 
தங்கியிருக்கும் வானளாவிய இமயம் வடதிசையில் உள்ளது. 

தென் திசையில் ஆயின் குடி இல்லை எனின் இப்பரந்த உலகம் தலைகீழாக மாறிவிடும்
