இவரே புலன்உழுது உண்மார் புன்கண்அஞ்சித்
தமதுபகுத்து உண்ணும் தண்ணிழல் வாழ்நர்
களிறுகண்டு அழூஉம் அழாஅல் மறந்த
புன்தலைச் சிறாஅர் மன்றமருண்டு நோக்கி
விருந்திற் புன்கண் நோவுடையர்
கேட்டனை யாயின்நீ வேட்டது செய்ம்மே.
பொருளுரை:
நீதான் புறாவின் துன்பம் மட்டுமல்லாமல் மற்ற துன்பங்கள் பலவற்றை நீக்கிய சோழ மரபின் வழித்தோன்றல்.
இச்சிறுவர்களின் மரபினர், கற்றவர்களது வறுமையை கண்டு அஞ்சி,
தமது உணவை பங்கிட்டு உண்டு, அவர்களுக்கு குளிர்ந்த நிழலாக விளங்கி வாழ்ந்தவர்கள்.
ஆனால் இங்கே, கொல்ல வரும் யானையை கண்டு அழுது, பின்பு அழுகையை மறந்து, பொலிவிழந்த தலையுடைய இச்சிறுவர்கள்,
மன்றத்தை மருண்டு நோக்கி வாழ்வில் முன்பு அறியாத புதிய துன்ப வலியை அடைந்திருக்கின்றனர்.
நான் கூறிய அனைத்தையும் நீ கேட்டாய் என்றால் இனி நீ விரும்பியதை செய்.
