Reading: NPR -- National Population Register

Today, I stumbled across an article regarding census process that has been undertaken by Indian Govt, for enumerating every indian.

General essential things an Indian should have, if we are citizen of India.

a) Ration Card  [ Foremost important thing, without this it is difficult to get any govt benefits or fill any govt application] Even if we are not using it for buying thing. MUST

b) License Card  -- MUST

c) Voter Id Card -- MUST

d) Passport -- MUST

e) Birth Certificate -- To my knowledge , it has been made mandatory for persons born after 26 th January 1989. This issue arises when applying for passport -- MUST

f)  PAN card - if needed

Most of the items specified have inderdependencies.

Miscellaneous

g) Having Post Office Account -- Pass Book can come in handy some where

h) Having a bank account in Public Sector Bank .  Better to start a minor account for children at earlier stage.

i) Having a BSNL landline telephone connection -- Only Public Telephone bill is accepted as proof.

Some time back, I heard we can use the post man authentication for address proof.

In order to streamline all this verification, our govt have come up with UIDAI (Aadhaar), for this NPR data is been used.

http://www.censusindia.gov.in/ gives the comphrensive view of NPR.

Do read the NPR application form, since these datas are permanent, difficult change after once written.

Having laminated photocopy of some id proof in our wallet helps in identification during unforseen event.
